The Grand Hajj Symposium

Capability in Hajj and Contemporary Developments – 49th Session

Event Date

5 Dhu al-Hijjah 1446 AH

Time

10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques

King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud

May God protect him

The great honor with which God has distinguished our country by serving the Two Holy Mosques, caring for the comfort of the Guests of Allah—pilgrims, performers of Umrah, and visitors—and providing them with the finest services, is a source of pride for us all. For its sake, we spare no effort in fulfilling the responsibility God has chosen us for, sensing the sanctity of this great duty. We praise God for granting us success in continuing this noble work since the era of the founder King Abdulaziz (may God have mercy on him), followed by this country under the leadership of his sons, the kings after him (may God have mercy on them). We continue and remain proud and honored to carry on this mission with the highest efficiency and finest dedication, God willing.

His Royal Highness Prince

Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud

Crown Prince and Prime Minister – May God protect him

Stories of success always begin with a vision, and the most successful visions are those built on strengths. We trust and know that God Almighty has bestowed upon us a blessed homeland more precious than oil, for within it are the Two Holy Mosques, the purest places on earth and the Qiblah of more than a billion Muslims. This is our Arab and Islamic depth and our primary factor of success.

Knowledge Communication Platform

For more than four decades, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has been organizing the Grand Hajj Symposium annually during the Hajj season, with the participation of elite scholars and thinkers from the Islamic world. This affirms that the concept of Hajj is not limited to being a religious ritual, but is also a scientific and intellectual forum that contributes to strengthening bonds of acquaintance and communication among Muslims from different countries of the world, and enhances the cognitive and integrative dimension of this blessed obligation.

Our Vision

To make the Grand Hajj Symposium the leading platform for intellectual leadership and the exchange of high-quality knowledge, and to enhance deeper understanding and appreciation of the religious, social, and cultural dimensions of Hajj rituals.

Objectives

  • The Two Holy Mosques
  • Highlighting the cultural and civilizational role undertaken by the Kingdom in serving Hajj and pilgrims
  • Establishing the principle of calm intellectual dialogue on issues of the Islamic nation during the Hajj season
  • Laying the foundations for unified collective action among the people of the Islamic world in responding to misconceptions surrounding creed, the nation, and culture
  • Constructive scientific communication with institutions, scientific forums, and specialized researchers in most countries of the world

Symposium Journey

The Grand Hajj Symposium has been launched for more than four decades to serve as a knowledge platform enabling jurists, scholars, and interested parties to study and discuss issues related to Hajj and pilgrims, and matters concerning the Islamic community and Muslims worldwide, thereby enhancing the exchange of experiences to face contemporary challenges in performing this great ritual.
The Grand Hajj Symposium is one of the most prominent scientific events sponsored annually by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, starting in 1397 AH (1977 AD) to highlight the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role regionally and internationally, as a religious and cultural beacon, blessed by God with the Two Holy Mosques, continuous service to pilgrims, and its role in establishing interfaith dialogue and enhancing understanding among schools of thought on solid scientific bases.
