- Tawaf is one of the pillars of Hajj and Umrah, and it is an act of worship to Allah that shows the need and turning of the heart and limbs to Him, Glory be to Him. Tawaf starts from the corner where the Black Stone is located; green lights are indicating it on the upper floors. From this point on the pilgrim pronounces Takbeer at the beginning of each new round. It is not a requirement that the Takbeer is at the same point, rather the matter is approximate. If the Hajj or Umrah performer finds himself in line with the Black Stone, he may say Takbeer.
- The Takbeer is made while the pilgrim points with his hand to the Black Stone, then begins his Tawaf, having the Ka’bah on his left (counterclockwise). He may kiss the Black Stone if possible, in fulfillment of the Sunnah. If he cannot do so, especially in seasons and during crowds, he is not to blame. The pilgrims in Tawaf should pray a lot to Allah and invoke Him. If they reach the corner that precedes the Black Stone, which is called the “Yemeni Corner”, it is also desirable for them to wipe over it if possible, and repeat that practice in the seven rounds.
