- Saa’i (walking) between Al-Safa and Al-Marwah is a great ritual of Hajj and Umrah. Allah, the Almighty, said: Indeed, Al-Safa and Al-Marwah are among the symbols of Allah. So whoever makes Hajj to the House or performs Umrah - there is no blame upon him for walking between them Hajj and Umrah performers worship their Lord by walking the distance between Al-Safa and Al-Marwah seven times, as did our Noble Messenger (peace be upon him).
- Al-Safa and Al-Marwah are two small mountains that Hajar, the mother of Isma'il (peace be upon him) used to climb in search of livelihood. The Saa’i starts from Mount Al-Safa at the visible rocks on the ground floor and the Saa’i ends at Mount Al-Marwah. It is an act of Sunnah for Hajj and Umrah performers upon reaching the beginning of Al-Safa or Al-Marwah at the beginning of each round to raise their hands facing the Qiblah while supplicating Allah and saying Takbeer before the start of the new round. It is desirable for men who can jog between the two green lights to do so, following the example of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). Also, the person engaged in Saa’i should not stop to offer prayer in a place that obstructs traffic and causes crowds. They must adhere to the instructions of the security men and assistants in the Grand Mosque.
